Death Certificates

Undertaking LA is able to place a courtesy order for your Death Certificates at the Los Angeles Health Office.

Death Certificates are $21 each and we charge a $15 convenience fee for any order over 5 Certificates placed with us.

If we have to mail out for your certificates you will also be charged for mailing to the County in which the death occurred as well as the postage the Health Office requires us to pay in order to have them mailed back.

Our timeline for returning Death Certificates will be at least 3-4 weeks after a decedent has been taken into our care, and can be longer if the death occurred in Long Beach, Orange County, Riverside, or San Bernardino.

If you need the Death Certificates sooner, and are listed as the Next of Kin under H&S Code 7100 (parent, legal guardian, child, grandparent, sibling, spouse, or court appointed agency) you have the right to place the order at the Health Office and, in most circumstances, receive them same day.

Under no circumstances will the Health Office provide the Funeral Home the Death Certificates same day, and there is no rush fee that we can pay to obtain them sooner.

We will notify you once the Certificates are in our office and you can either pick them up, or we can mail them to you for $12, which includes USPS Priority Shipping and Signature Confirmation.
